Watch White Sox coach Mark Parent get tossed before game begins

Share

In a sight you don’t see every day, Chicago White Sox coach Mark Parent was ejected before Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers.

Parent took the lineup card to home plate before the game and had a few choice words for umpire Jerry Layne, who promptly threw him out of a game that hadn’t started yet.

Parent was still upset about two plays that went against the White Sox earlier in the series.

On Friday, Ian Kinsler got an inside-the-park home run when his drive down the left-field line got stuck under some padding on the wall. The umpires allowed Kinsler to score rather than ruling it a ground-rule double and sending him back to second.

On Saturday, the White Sox were upset when Alexei Ramirez was called out on a play at the plate.

The White Sox coach should have heeded the old Little League rule: Parents should remain quiet and not argue with the ump.
