Ivy Pinkerton of Western High School has signed a letter of intent to play softball for Cal, her father, Troy Pinkerton, said Wednesday.

Pinkerton, a shortstop, will join former Orange League rival Michele Granger of Valencia at Cal.

Last season, Pinkerton split time as a pitcher and shortstop with a .915 fielding percentage and was named to The Times’ all-county team. She chose Cal over Nevada Las Vegas, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Georgia State and Cal State Long Beach.

Charisse Kiino of Woodbridge High School has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Princeton, said her father, Ron Kiino.

Kiino has been a three-year starter in volleyball and softball. She was named All-Pacific Coast League in the 1987-88 and again in volleyball last fall.

Kiino has a 4.1 grade-point average.

Chris Sheff, Laguna Hills’ multi-sport athlete, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Pepperdine, where he will play baseball.

Sheff, who also played basketball for the Hawks, leads the county in runs scored with 25 and is among the county leaders in hits (25) and triples (3).

Mission Viejo’s Julie Foudy, The Times’ player of the year in soccer for the past three years, has made an oral commitment to attend Stanford in the fall, said her mother, Judy Foudy.

Foudy, who led Mission Viejo to three consecutive Southern Section championships from 1985-87, visited Cal, Harvard, Yale and North Carolina--the six-time defending national champion--before deciding on Stanford.
