Cal State Fullerton football coaches received eight more letters of intent Thursday, bringing to 17 the number of players the Titans have signed.

Heading the list is Shannon Thompson, an El Camino College wide receiver who caught 44 passes for 650 yards and eight touchdowns last season.

Thompson, 5 feet 9 and 160 pounds, was a first-team All-Mission Conference and all-state selection and an honorable-mention All-American. Thompson’s teammate, El Camino wide receiver Steven Danzy, also has signed with Fullerton. Danzy caught 17 passes for 315 yards and four touchdowns in 1990.

Fullerton also received letters from two high school players: Reggie Carter, a 5-10, 180-pound running back from Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley, and Seth Braithwaite, a 6-3, 260-pound offensive guard from Pasadena High.

In other football signing news:

Aaron Gutridge of Tustin High School signed a letter of intent to play football at Idaho State, said Dave Geringer, the school’s assistant sports information director. Gutridge, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior linebacker, was a first-team All-Orange County selection. He helped guide the Tillers into the Southern Section Division VI championship game.

In volleyball:

Sarah Telford of Connelly High has made an oral commitment to play volleyball at Hofstra in Hempstead, N.Y., her mother, Julie Telford, said.

Telford, a 6-foot outside hitter, played three years at Connelly. She sat out last season because of a knee injury.
