Rod Davis, a native American with dual citizenship, has been selected the skipper of New Zealand’s America’s Cup campaign. He is the third-ranked match-racing sailor in the world, behind Chris Dickson of New Zealand, who is sailing the Cup for Nippon Challenge, and Australia’s Peter Gilmour.

Davis, 35, grew up in Coronado, where the Kiwis are based for next year’s competition. His wife Liz is a New Zealand native, and Davis moved to Auckland after the 1986-87 America’s Cup at Fremantle, Western Australia.
