Orange Lutheran Puts Squeeze on Santa Paula
Orange Lutheran High scored early and in a variety of ways, routing Santa Paula, 58-14, Thursday night in the opening round of the Southern Section Division XI football playoffs at Brea Olinda High.
Running back Dee Meza scored on his first four carries on runs of five, seven, 54 and nine yards and quarterback Jason Whieldon threw touchdown passes of 91 yards to Tim Fleming and 71 yards to Jeff Renevier as Orange Lutheran (9-1) scored on its first six possessions.
Meza, a 5-9, 170-pound tailback, finished with 149 yards in 15 carries. He also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
Whieldon completed 12 of 13 pass attempts for 287 yards and three scores.
Chad Metelak of Santa Paula (4-7) was under a hard rush and completed 10 of 23 passes for 117 yards. He was sacked six times.
