Earl Sweatshirt halts tour due to exhaustion
From Denmark to New Zealand, Earl Sweatshirt has toured rigorously since the release of his major label debut, “Doris”, last August.
Unfortunately for both Earl and fans, this run of shows has abruptly stopped. The Odd Future member, born Thebe Kgositsile, said that his mental and physical exhaustion has gone too far.
He announced the news Tuesday on Twitter through a string of tweets:
@earlxsweat: I sincerely apologize to any of y’all who planned to see me at these next couple festival dates. Due to lack of self maintenance .....
@earlxsweat: i had to press eject on the tour. I am physically and mentally at the end of my rope. I weigh a fraction of what I’m supposed to ....
@earlxsweat: and without synergy between the body and mind there is nothing. no point in performing if it’s not the best show I can give every time.
This is the second summer in a row that Earl has had to pull out of festival dates. He canceled his Bonnaroo set last June due to sickness.
Earl has eight upcoming tour dates listed on the Odd Future website, including an appearance at Switzerland’s OpenAir Frauenfeld tomorrow. This could additionally threaten Earl’s scheduled FYF Fest appearance, scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 24.
