Woman suspected of shooting brother, father; brother dead
A woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of fatally shooting her brother and wounding her father at a Canyon Country apartment complex, authorities said.
The shooting occurred about 5:15 a.m. in the 18000 block of Danielson Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A 28-year-old man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His 56-year-old father was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
The suspected shooter, a 25-year-old woman, surrendered to authorities at the scene and was booked on murder charges at the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station. Her name was not immediately released.
A third person was present when the shooting occurred but was not injured, Deputy Amber Smith said.
The semiautomatic handgun believed to be used by the shooter was recovered at the scene.
