Encino resident shot multiple times in his SUV; gunman at large

Police are searching for a gunman who shot an Encino resident multiple times Wednesday night as he sat in his SUV.

The shooting was reported around 5:50 p.m. in the 4900 block of Rupert Avenue. The victim had arrived at his home and was sitting inside his SUV when the gunman approached and shot him, according to the LAPD.

His two children, both under age 10, were also inside the SUV at the time of the shooting, KTLA-TV reported. The man remains in critical condition, according to KTLA.

The gunman, described as being in his 40s, fled in a pickup truck, and may be related to the victim, police told KTLA. The suspect remains at large, police said.

Authorities said they had no further information about the incident.
