Charges expected in shooting death of Marina del Rey security guard
A 47-year-old Inglewood man is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in connection with the killing of a security guard in Marina del Rey just before the end of the year.
Byron Keith Street is due to be arraigned on charges of murder, burglary, felony vandalism and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Street is accused of shooting and killing Patrick Odoikyene, a 47-year-old uniformed private security guard at an upscale apartment complex who was working in the 4200 block of Via Marina Drive on Dec. 30, the Sheriff’s Department said.

He was found in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds.
Residents of the upscale Shores apartment complex told The Times that Odoikyene was well-liked and talkative.
Odoikyene “was the one that knew how the whole place worked,” said a resident who spoke on the condition of anonymity following the shooting because managers asked them not to speak with the press.
“Some of the other security guards were more quiet. He was talkative,” the resident said. “The guy always had a smile on.... He was wonderful.”
Street was arrested on an unrelated felony fraud charge the day after the shooting. Charges in the killing of Odoikyene were filed Tuesday.
