UCLA football: Devin Fuller catches quarterback’s eye, and his passes
To determine how good UCLA receiver Devin Fuller can be, all you have to do is listen to the guy throwing him the ball.
Quarterback Brett Hundley flung a pass that seemed headed for Riverside during a practice at Cal State San Bernardino. Fuller, who had defenders choking on his vapor trail 20 yards back, caught it in stride for a 7-yard touchdown.
Can Hundley even throw a pass that Fuller can’t chase down?
“That’s a good question,” Hundley said. “He is so deceptively fast. His body looks normal, but his feet are moving so much faster than people think. I tell him every time we run that play, I’m looking, get open.”
Fuller, a converted quarterback, had 20 receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns while learning the position as a freshman in 2012.
“The plan was to redshirt last year, but he was so good, we couldn’t keep him off the field,” Hundley said. “He’s going to be a big-time receiver.”
