Clippers’ J.J. Redick won’t play against Heat due to hip injury
Clippers guard J.J. Redick will not play against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night because of a bruised right hip.
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said Redick was dealing with hip and back issues during Wednesday morning’s shoot-around.
“I pulled him out of shoot-around today,” Rivers said. “He just didn’t look like he could go.”
Jamal Crawford will start in place of Redick.
The 6-foot-4 Redick has been dealing with injuries all season. He missed 21 games with a broken right hand and torn ligaments on his right wrist. He has played with a bruised left knee, a sore right shoulder and back spasms.
Redick is averaging 15.7 points in 28.8 minutes a game, shooting 45.9% from the field and 39.6% from three-point range.
