Update: This game marks the Galaxy’s start in the 101st edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament, a single-elimination event featuring pro teams and amateur clubs from around the country. The pro teams include not only those from Major League Soccer but also clubs from the lower-tier North American Soccer League and USL Pro, and Arizona United is a USL Pro team. The Galaxy and other MLS teams are starting in the fourth round of the tournament, which the Galaxy won in 2001 and 2005. If the Galaxy defeats Arizona United, it would face the Carolina RailHawks of the NASL in the fifth round.
