Dodgers prospect Julio Urias to miss one month because of eye surgery

Top pitching prospect Julio Urias will undergo cosmetic surgery to remove a benign mass from his left eye and will be sidelined for about a month, a Dodgers spokesperson confirmed Monday.
Urias, 18, is scheduled to have the procedure May 28 in Phoenix. He is expected to be pitching in games by the end of June.
Urias, who was the youngest player in the Dodgers’ major league spring training camp, is now pitching for double-A Tulsa. In seven starts, he is 1-2 with a 3.00 earned-run average. He has struck out 46 batters and walked nine in 36 innings. Opponents are batting .194 against him.
Urias has had three previous operations on his eye, which he talked about in spring training.
“That’s how God works,” Urias said at the time in Spanish. “He gave me a bad left eye but a good left arm.”
