It was earlier this week when UCLA Coach Jim Mora engaged in a little conversation with freshman quarterback Josh Rosen.

“You’re not at ... Bellflower St. John Bosco,” Mora screamed. “That’s why you have not been named the starter.”

And there was this after Mora didn’t appreciate one of Rosen’s throws: “Go back to Bosco and beat some more [bad] teams.”

I was wondering what St. John Bosco Coach Jason Negro thought of Mora’s practice commentary.

In a text, Negro said, “Considering Josh went 16-0 as a starter in the toughest league in the country, I have no doubt he can take a little tough coaching from Coach Mora....He’s prepared for the Pac-12.”

And he added, “I don’t think De La Salle would like being called a bad team.”
