In the Trinity League, where there is no shortage of athletic, tough players, get ready for the emergence of junior linebacker Jack Savage of Anaheim Servite as a defensive standout this season.

He’s 6 feet 2, 190 pounds and will probably end up playing tight end in college, but for Servite, he’s going to be a defensive attacker.

“He’s so athletic,” Coach A.J. Gass said. “He’s so natural at pass rushing, covering and filling the gap.”

Savage’s father is UCLA baseball Coach John Savage. Savage was in Omaha last month watching UCLA’s championship win in the College World Series.

“One of the greatest days I’ve ever experienced,” he tweeted early in the morning. “So damn blessed.”

His grandfather is former Nevada football Coach Chris Ault.

Former Servite Coach Troy Thomas always felt that Savage was going to be standout when he put him on varsity as a sophomore, and this season should provide the opportunity for Savage to show off his skills.
