Major League Soccer released its 2014 regular-season schedule Monday, and it has the Galaxy opening at StubHub Center on March 8 against MLS Cup finalist Real Salt Lake.

MLS teams will take a mid-June break during the group stage of the World Cup in Brazil before finishing the regular season in the final week of October.

The Galaxy closes out its regular season Oct. 25 at Seattle.

The Galaxy won’t win the MLS title this year, having been eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals. But it will take home at least one postseason prize after winning the MLS Team Fair Play award Monday.

It’s the first time the Galaxy has earned the prize, which is awarded based on objective criteria such as fewest fouls and cards received and on a subjective evaluation of sportsman behavior. The Galaxy’s 386 fouls in 2013 were the third-fewest in the league and its 36 yellow cards were the lowest in MLS.

Chivas USA, the Galaxy’s fellow tenant at StubHub Center, will open its season March 9 at home against the Chicago Fire. And it will do so with a new coach since Jose Luis Real, who managed the team over the final 21 games of 2013, has been called back to Mexico to take over Chivas de Guadalajara, Chivas USA’s sister club in the Liga MX.

Chivas USA was 3-12-6 under Real, who was the 10th coach in franchise history but the fourth since Mexican businessman Jorge Vergara and his wife Angelica Fuentes took over sole ownership of the team in August 2012.
