Michigan State recruit Jayru Campbell has been arrested after allegedly body-slamming a security guard at Cass Tech High in Detroit, according to multiple media reports.

The incident is receiving a lot of attention not only because of the high school junior’s status as one of the top quarterback prospects in the country but also because cellphone video shows the alleged crime taking place.

WXYZ ABC-7 says police have confirmed that Campbell is the student shown on the video throwing the security guard to the ground.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Campbell’s arrest was announced by the school system on Thursday.

“Jayru Campbell was arrested yesterday by the Detroit Public Schools Police Department and charged with assault and battery, a misdemeanor, based on an incident that occurred inside the school at Cass Tech yesterday at dismissal time,” Detroit Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Steve Wasko said Thursday.

The Free Press added, however, that spokeswoman Maria Miller said the Wayne County prosecutor’s office had not received information about the incident.
