Former USC tailback Ty Isaac, who said last month that he would transfer, will attend Michigan, he announced on his Twitter feed.

“I will be attending the University of Michigan this year,” Isaac wrote.

Isaac came to USC from Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy. Last season as a freshman, he played in 14 games and rushed for 236 yards and two touchdowns in 40 carries.

USC said on its website in May that Isaac would “return home to be near his family and take care of an ill relative.”

Under NCAA rules, Isaac will have to sit out a season unless he is granted a hardship waiver.

Isaac is the second former USC player with Illinois roots to transfer to a Big Ten Conference school in recent years.

Receiver Kyle Prater transferred to Northwestern after the 2011 season. He caught 10 passes for 54 yards in 2012 and nine passes for 59 yards last season.
