David Livingston and John Davis teamed up in the last leg of the South Bay Grand Prix tennis doubles tournament to win the Men’s Open title, defeating Dave Bier and Alan Viewig, 7-5, 6-3. Carolyn Dadian and Kathy Paben took the top women’s category, defeating Janet Bez and Jackie Barr in straight sets. The top winners from the 11 rounds of play will meet in the three-day Masters Jan. 10 to 12 at Rolling Hills Plaza. At least 185 competitors will be playing for a 1985 Audi 5000. Jim Flood will be in charge of the Masters tournament at 542-7845.

Quarterback Pat O’Hara of Santa Monica was named most valuable player of the Bay League while West Torrance players Kevin Maher and Nick Subis won back of the year and lineman of the year awards, topping the coaches’ all-league team.

The first team offense includes tight end Don Chapman, receiver Mike Jones and quarterback Scott Yessner of Redondo; tackle Dale Evans and receiver Travis Clark of Santa Monica; tackle Brian Kelly, guard Jeff Carpenter, running back Steve Kujawa and kicker John Lopez of South Torrance; guard Jon Henderson and center Scott Hayes of West Torrance and running back Brian Connors of Palos Verdes.

The first team defense has linemen Matt Williams and Alan Banks and linebacker Jeff Zumwalt of South; linemen Scott Ellwood and Steve Lancaster and back Tony Nguyen and punter Dominick Cefalone of West; lineman Clint Mosley and back Dave Watson of Redondo; linebacker Bernard Shockley and back London Sattiewhite of Santa Monica and back Jim Regan of Mira Costa.

Setter Lindsay Hahn of state champion Mira Costa was named most valuable player on the Bay League volleyball coaches’ all-league team. She is joined on first team by teammates Megan McCallister, Lisa Arce, Melissa McNally and Jill Horning, Shannon Quigley of Redondo and Tiffany Rochelle of Santa Monica. The second team has Kim Bryson and Tracy Brown of Redondo, Elina Covarrubias, Leilani Johnson and Kathleen Dixon of Santa Monica, Christy Lee of Rolling Hills, Holly McPeak of Mira Costa and Jill Dinnel of South Torrance.
