Phil Jackson has begun remaking the New York Knicks’ roster to his liking, agreeing to acquire veteran point guard Jose Calderon from the Dallas Mavericks while relinquishing Tyson Chandler as part of a six-player trade that also involves a pair of second-round draft picks, according to multiple reports.

The deal has been agreed to in principle but not completed. Once consummated, it will allow Chandler, the former Compton Dominguez High star, to rejoin the team with which he won an NBA title in 2011 before signing a four-year, $60-million contract with the Knicks later that summer.

Jackson gets Calderon, the heady ballhandler the new Knicks president wants to run his preferred triangle offense under rookie Coach Derek Fisher. New York also will acquire center Samuel Dalembert and guards Shane Larkin and Wayne Ellington in addition to the Mavericks’ second-round picks -- Nos. 34 and 51 -- in Thursday’s draft.

The Mavericks get a supreme rim protector in Chandler as well as troubled point guard Raymond Felton, who recently agreed to plead guilty to a felony gun possession charge to avoid jail time. Felton must pay a $5,000 fine and perform 500 hours of community service as part of the arrangement.

Chandler, 31, had a largely disappointing run with the Knicks, becoming an All-Star for the first time during the 2012-13 season but never making it past the second round of the playoffs.
