Golf: Westlake wins state championship
The best boys’ high school golf team in California is the Westlake Warriors.
Westlake won the CIF state championship on Wednesday at Poppy Hills Golf Course, firing a 373 to finish four strokes ahead of second-place Torrey Pines. Loyola finished third. It’s the second consecutive state golf title for the Warriors.
Leading the Warriors were Matt Wolff and Spencer Soosman, who shot even-par 71s. Jake Egelske added a 75.
Jacob Solomon of Dublin High won the individual title with a score of 68.
