Eric Bledsoe, Ryan Gomes aware of Clippers trade rumors

Quietly and reflectively, Eric Bledsoe and Ryan Gomes talked about how their names have been mentioned in Clippers trade rumors.

Neither expected to be traded before Thursday’s noon PDT deadline, but neither player was positive that he would remain a Clipper.

Gomes has stayed abreast of the situation, saying that he has heard about speculation that he and Bledsoe would go to Portland for Jamal Crawford. Gomes said he even heard that the Clippers were trying to get Utah’s Raja Bell.

“I’m an Internet junkie,” Gomes said. “I read all that stuff. I’m just like, ‘OK.’ Until something happens, you just sit back and relax. At the end of the day, you’ve still got a job and you’ve still got to go out and do what you do. So whether I’m here or not, I’ve still got to go out and perform the best I can.”

Bledsoe has been the most-talked-about Clipper regarding trade rumors because he is a 22-year-old second-year point guard who teams have an interest in acquiring.

“I’m just here to play, man,” Bledsoe said. “As long as I play my game, I’ll worry about everything else later.”

Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said he hasn’t talked to any of his players about the trade rumors.

Del Negro said players have to learn that it’s part of the business. Del Negro also said he knows that the rumors “wear on some guys.”

“If something comes up, then it’ll be discussed,” Del Negro said. “But nothing has come by to this point that has made any sense to [discuss with the players] … If there is something that we feel makes us better, then we talk about it.”

Billups rehabbing in L.A.

Del Negro said Chauncey Billups, who has been out since Feb. 6 because of a season-ending torn left Achilles’ tendon injury, has been in Los Angeles doing rehabilitation therapy.

Del Negro said Billups “is doing well” but that he hasn’t been around the team yet.

Going into Wednesday night’s game, the Clippers were 8-10 since Billups’ injury.

“You never are going to replace a guy like Chauncey,” Del Negro said. “But you can’t control that. We have to move on from that, and other guys have to step up and play. We’ve had our struggle with things, but I believe in the group.”
