With his next goal, the Galaxy's Landon Donovan will set the all-time scoring record in Major League Soccer.

But when and where will that happen?

Donovan is now tied with Jeff Cunningham for the most MLS regular-season goals, with 134. (Cunningham's last season was in 2011.)

The Galaxy's next game is against the Montreal Impact on Wednesday at StubHub Center in Carson.

But Donovan, 31, currently is playing with the U.S. national team, and it's unclear whether the forward will return in time to play against Montreal.

If not, the Galaxy's next game is against San Jose on Oct. 20, also at home. If Donovan sets the record in that game, it would be quite the coincidence because Donovan's first four years in the league were with the Earthquakes.

Donovan scored 32 goals with San Jose and now has 102 with the Galaxy.

"Hopefully we can do it  ... against Montreal if I'm back," Donovan said Sunday after he scored two goals in the Galaxy's 5-0 win over Chivas USA. "If I'm with the national team, then potentially against San Jose. We'll see."

After playing Montreal and San Jose, the Galaxy's final regular-season game is Oct. 27 against the Sounders in Seattle.
