UCLA fans have another talking point in making a case that they have taken ownership of football in Los Angeles.

For the first time since 1998, the Bruins have finished higher in the rankings than USC. UCLA is 16th in the Associated Press and USA Today coaches polls. USC is 19th in each poll.

Adding up the check list in the Jim Mora era:

Head-to-head: UCLA 2, USC 0

Sun Bowl victories: UCLA 1, USC 0

Pac-12 title games: UCLA 1, USC 0

Victories over Stanford: USC 1, UCLA 0

2014 Heisman candidates: UCLA 1, USC 0

Difference in poll ranking: UCLA plus 3

Then subtract ...

Coaches fired on tarmac: USC 1, UCLA 0

That brings the highly scientific, but unofficial tally to …

... UCLA 8, USC 0.
