Staples Center to host 2011 All-Star game
The NBA is expected to announce today that the 2011 All-Star game will be held at Staples Center.
The event was also held in Los Angeles in 2004.
A news conference has been scheduled for this afternoon at Staples Center. Expected to attend are NBA Commissioner David Stern, AEG President Tim Leiweke and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
The 58th All-Star game was held in Phoenix this year, with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal sharing most-valuable-player honors. The event will be held in Dallas next year at the Cowboys’ new stadium.
O’Neal was the game’s MVP when it was held here in 2004. He had 24 points in 24 minutes as the Western Conference defeated the Eastern Conference, 136-132.
