Ex-Northridge baseball coach Bob Hiegert named to CCAA Hall of Fame

Bob Hiegert, the 72-year-old former Cal State Northridge baseball coach and athletic director, is part of the inaugural class that will be inducted into the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. Hall of Fame.

He was involved in the CCAA for more than 50 years in multiple capacities, retiring as the CCAA commissioner in 2012.

He played baseball for Northridge and won 609 games as the school’s coach, including NCAA Division II championships in 1970 and 1984.

Earlier this season, the baseball program retired his uniform number and unveiled a permanent tribute at Matador Field.

He will be inducted on June 4 at Hilmar Cheese Company in Hilmar, Calif.
