May May Ali, Muhammad Ali’s daughter, said that contrary to reports, her father is not near death and that he watched the Super Bowl on Sunday.

“He’s fine; in fact, he was talking well this morning,” she said in a telephone interview with the Associated Press on Sunday. “These rumors pop up every once in a while but there’s nothing to them.”

The rumors were started by a report in a British tabloid quoting Ali’s brother, Rahman, as saying the former heavyweight champion was near death. The article was shared multiple times on Facebook and Twitter, causing the rumor that Muhammad Ali was near death to grow.

Rahman later said he hasn’t seen or had contact with his brother since last summer.

Ali suffers from Parkinson’s disease. He celebrated his 71st birthday last month.
