USC is ranked No. 24 in the Associated Press media preseason football poll, the same ranking the Trojans received in the USA Today coaches' poll earlier this month.

Two-time defending national champion Alabama is ranked No. 1 in both polls.

Among Pac-12 teams, Oregon is ranked third, Stanford fourth, UCLA 21st and Oregon State 25th in both polls.

Los Angeles Times reporters do not vote in polls.

USC began last season ranked No. 1 in the AP poll but was unranked at season's end after finishing 7-6.

USC, which has yet to settle on a starting quarterback, opens its season Aug. 29 at Hawaii.
