Baseball: Crescenta Valley wins Pacific League title with 1-0 win
On the final night of the Pacific League season, with the league title on the line, Crescenta Valley’s Brian Gadsby threw a one-hitter to lift the Falcons past Arcadia, 1-0, on Friday at Stengel Field.
Gadsby struck out four and walked none. Michael Russo had two of Crescenta Valley’s four hits off Ryan Tuck.
The game’s only run came home in the first inning on when Russo stole home. Crescenta Valley is 19-7-1 and 12-1-1.
In a West Valley League game, Granada Hills defeated Birmingham, 3-1, to claim fourth place because Cleveland didn’t get a chance to play on Friday due to games being canceled (air quality issues). Chris Murphy threw a one-hitter. Austin Dudley had two hits.
In a Frontier League tiebreaker to decide the No. 1 seed from the league, Malibu defeated Santa Paula, 4-3. Chase Lambert had two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
