UCLA’s Shabazz Muhammad has minor ankle sprain
The Bruins got the victory Wednesday, and another ding.
Shabazz Muhammad suffered a minor sprained left ankle during the Bruins’ 79-74 overtime victory against Arizona State. Muhammad is still recovering from pink eye as well.
Asked about the ankle, Muhammad said, “It’s good. I tweaked it a little bit. I’ll be fine. I’ll be ready for the Arizona game [Saturday].”
As for his eye, Muhammad said: “It was a lot better today. It was partially shut against USC [Sunday.]”
Neither problem is expected to keep Muhammad out of the lineup.
Coach Ben Howland was also hoping to get Travis Wear back for the Arizona game. Wear missed a second game Wednesday with a sprained right foot.
“Travis’ status is now day-to-day,” Howland said. “We’re hoping he’ll be back ready do a walk through Friday, or maybe that’s just me hoping.”
