30-year mortgage rates rise

Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.04% this week, up from 5.72% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac reported.

Rates on 15-year mortgages, a popular choice for refinancing, edged up to 5.64% from 5.25% last week. Five-year adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 5.37% from 5.19%. One-year ARMs declined slightly to 4.98% from 5.03%.

The rates do not include add-on fees known as points. Thirty-year mortgages and one-year adjustable-rate mortgages carried a nationwide average fee of 0.6 of a point. Fifteen-year mortgages and five-year adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 0.5 of a point.
