Kristen Stewart: Age I’m at is ‘so full of conviction and passion’
Kristen Stewart acknowledged that she made a mistake by having a fling with married director Rupert Sanders, a real-life indiscretion that complicates, among other things, her life-imitating-art romance with “Twillight” co-star Rob Pattinson.
Oddly, the KStew cheating incident has echoes in a non-“Twilight” film in which she recently starred: “On the Road,” in which her character freely explores her sexuality (among other things).
In the adaptation of the classic Beat novel, Stewart plays Marylou, the teenage wife of Dean Moriarty and part of a group for whom monogamy is, well, not exactly a way of life.

In talking to The Times at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Stewart offered a thought on the stage of life that the film attempts to capture. If her comment doesn’t explain what happened, it does offer some context for it.
“I think [your early 20s] represents a stage of life that is so full of conviction and passion and emotion,” Stewart, 22, said. “Except you don’t why yet, and you just have to trust at a certain point these feelings will make sense.”
Stewart did add that she “wanted to find the person behind the character” and not just play “a girl who likes to [have sex] a lot.”
“On the Road” is scheduled for a December release. If Twihards feel let down by the confession of their heroine — whose “Twilight” storyline is, let’s face it, based on vacillating between two men — they might be less disappointed after seeing “On the Road.” L’affaire Sanders may fly in the face of a KStew-RPatz 4Ever narrative, but it dovetails squarely with what happens in the Kerouac film.
