It’s been about four years since a hologram-like image of Tupac Shakur appeared at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, but the era of the virtual performer now appears to be upon us.

A digital representation of the late Whitney Houston is expected to appear on NBC’s “The Voice” in an episode during finals week, according to sources familiar with the production but not authorized to speak to the media.

A spokesperson for NBC did not respond to requests for comment. A spokesperson for Hologram USA, the company behind the technology, declined to comment.

Hologram USA has been prepping for a virtual Houston tour. The outing is expected to begin later this year,

It’s widely believed that the virtual Houston will appear in a duet with “The Voice” judge and star Christina Aguilera. The latter was recently asked about rumors surrounding her duet with the late Houston, who died in 2012 at the age of 48, and told “Entertainment Tonight” that she was “sworn to secrecy.”

“The Voice” finale is planned for May 24.
