Jeremy Scott off to good start at Moschino with pre-fall range

Jeremy Scott off to good start at Moschino with pre-fall range
Some designs from Jeremy Scott's Moschino pre-fall 2014 collection lookbook are shown.

Los Angeles-based designer Jeremy Scott, who was appointed creative director at Italian luxury brand Moschino in October, gave buyers and the media a taste of what's to come with his pre-fall collection lookbook, which went out this week.

And judging from the photos, it looks like he's off to a good start.

Scott has mixed classic Moschino design codes (biker jackets, ladylike suits, quilted leather and chain trim) with his own sporty, 1980s-era streetwear touches. I like the backpack made to look like a biker jacket and the blingy logo baseball caps, the varsity-jacket-styled ladylike skirt suit and the tromp l'oeil slip-meets-shirt dress.

Moschino is lucky that Scott already has a built-in fan base. With his own namesake label and his work for Adidas Originals, Scott has dressed every pop star in the universe, including Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus.

I'm betting we could see a red carpet debut for the Jeremy Scott for Moschino collection on Jan. 26 at the Grammys.

Scott will present his first Moschino runway collection next month during Milan Fashion Week.
