The American Society of Interior Designers' annual Orange County home tour is a bit of an anomaly. Most show houses are staged in sprawling estates, but this year's ASID tour, "Urban Living at Astoria," is held in a new high-rise complex in Irvine. Thirty-seven designers decorated four penthouse lofts and two flats on the 13th and 14th floors. The showcase is open through May 17, but we have a sneak peek, starting with a kitchen by Frank Pitman Designs. The back splash and island feature custom glass mosaics in playful colors. Rows of metallic moldings complement the white lacquer cabinetry. Murano art glass pendant lights hang over the bar, highlighting the sandblasted and polished aggregate countertop. |
