Year in Review: Times photographers capture the highs and lows of Los Angeles sports in 2017

From first pitch to the final buzzer, Los Angeles Times photographers captured the triumphs and defeats of local athletes and teams.

The year began with a dramatic, game-winning field goal by USC kicker Matt Boermeester in an all-time classic Rose Bowl contest. The Dodgers were the talk of the summer, but their remarkable run came to a heartbreaking end in Game 7 of the Fall Classic. And while the Clippers and Lakers have struggled through transitional periods, the Los Angeles Rams have been a revelation in 2017.
