Bounty hunter Dog Chapman finds two exotic snakes in San Diego

Bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman was not successful in his trip to San Diego to hunt for a mixed-martial arts fighter accused of beating an ex-girlfriend in Las Vegas.

But in arresting someone on an unrelated bail warrant, he found something Friday that was unexpected: two exotic snakes.

Snake specialists from the San Diego County Department of Animal Services were called to a residence in downtown San Diego to remove the snakes, tentatively identified as an eastern Indigo and a rear-fanged mussurana from South America.

“There was nobody to care for the two snakes,” said animal services Lt. Kalani Hudson.

The snakes will stay in county custody until the owner or the owner’s representative claims them, Hudson said.

The eastern Indigo, which is considered a threatened species, is not venomous. The rear-fanged mussurana is considered mildly venomous.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old mixed-martial arts fighter War Machine, who once lived in San Diego, was arrested in Simi Valley on suspicion of savagely beating his ex-girlfriend, porn star Christy Mack.
