The casket of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Juan Abel Escalante is removed from the hearse for funeral services at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. Escalante, who was assigned to the county's Men's Central Jail in downtown and guarded some of the region's most dangerous inmates, was not wearing a uniform but was on his way to work when he was shot and killed.
