"End of the Trail"
A sign is unveiled marking the highway's western terminus at the Santa Monica Pier. A procession of vintage cars and motorbikes drove the final segment of the highway ending on the pier. Santa Monica City Councilman Richard Bloom, business leaders and other dignitaries attended the dedication, held on the 83rd anniversary of Route 66.
