3 soldiers killed in PKK rebel attack
Three Turkish soldiers were killed in an attack by Kurdish separatist guerrillas in a town near the Iraqi border, military sources said.
Seventeen soldiers were injured, four critically, in the attack in Cizre by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, the sources said.
It came during a visit to Turkey by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki for talks on cooperation against the guerrillas.
Turkey’s military has recently boosted strikes against the rebels in northern Iraq.
Turkey, the European Union and the U.S. view the PKK as a terrorist group.
