Local nonprofits benefit from OC fundraiser

The Laguna Beach Community Foundation has received more than $30,000 in donations, the most among 21 Laguna Beach nonprofits that reaped the benefits of last week’s countywide giving initiative.

The foundation,https://www.lagunabeachcf.org/which connects donors with needs of area nonprofits, received $30,650 during the Orange County Community Foundation’s second iheartoc Giving Day.

Donors contributed nearly $3.3 million, eclipsing last year’s $1.8 million, through the iheartoc website from 6 a.m. April 27 through noon April 28.

“We urged Orange County to ‘give where your heart lives’ duringiheartoc Giving Dayand our community went above and beyond in meeting that challenge this year,” Orange County Community Foundation President Shelley Hoss said in a statement.

More than $145,000 of the $3.3 million went to Laguna Beach’s nonprofits.

• The Richard A. Neubauer Research Institute, $835.

• Seaside Legal Services, $1,250.

• Imagination Now Inc., $1,302.

• Assistance League of Laguna Beach, $575.

• Pacific Marine Mammal Center, $19,755.

• Ability Awareness Project/C3, $1,535.

• Laguna Ocean Foundation, $900.

• Friendship Shelter Inc., $9,834.

• Laguna Beach Community Clinic, $25,775.

• Laguna Canyon Foundation, $15,175.

• Laguna Art Museum, $6,675.

• Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, $1,730.

• Glennwood Housing Foundation Inc., $2,800.

• Laguna Food Pantry, $4,765.

• Laguna Dance Festival, $4,146.

• The Laguna Playhouse, $8,525.

• Helping Hand Worldwide Inc., $25.
