John and Jody Dreyer of Pasadena drove the coast from Los Angeles to Bandon, Ore., for Thanksgiving. The Tuesday before the big feast, they pulled onto a turnout just south of Big Sur to watch the sunset. In and of itself, the glorious scene was something to be thankful for, John says.
