The auto maker said in a statement that it is holding off on a price increase “at this time” in order to sustain sales momentum. A 2.3%, or $296, average price increase on General Motors 1985 models became effective Jan. 2. It is unclear whether Ford’s move will force GM to reconsider the price hike. Chrysler has not yet said whether it will follow GM’s lead on the increase.
