Decker, Wysocki to Meet Again in Sunkist Jan. 18

There will be a rematch of the memorable Mary Decker-Ruth Wysocki Olympic trials 1,500 final in the Sunkist meet Friday night, Jan. 18, at the Sports Arena.

This time, Decker and Wysocki will face each other in the 2,000. Wysocki stunned Decker in the Olympic trials in what Track and Field News called the biggest upset of the year.

The Sunkist will be Decker’s first race since the much ballyhooed fall in the Olympic 3,000 after tangling with Zola Budd. Decker’s coach, Dick Brown, reports she is very fit.
