A Texas Ranger raced through a hail of gunfire near Saltillo, Tex., to rescue a businessman’s 13-year-old daughter, who had been held for $100,000 ransom after gunmen forced a car off a country road and kidnaped her Friday, authorities said. “Thank God, my baby’s home,” said Don McNiel, 44. Amy McNiel was freed unharmed after a 100-m.p.h. chase during which police and kidnap suspects traded gunfire and two suspects were wounded, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety said.
