‘Iron Lady’ Shows Romantic Side

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has made a public declaration of love for her husband.

“Life with him is marvelous and I adore him,” the so-called Iron Lady said of Denis Thatcher, a wealthy businessman who has no government or political role. “I think he is wonderful and I could not do without him.”

Thatcher’s rare and romantic glimpse of domestic life with Denis came in a radio interview Wednesday. The Tory leader, renowned for her unflinching political stances, added:

“He has got his own views and he doesn’t hesitate to express them. If now and then they differ from mine, so what? They add spice to life.

“The great thing about marriage is that there is someone on your side always. It doesn’t matter what you do. It may not be wise, but there is someone always to hear your side.”
