U.S. to Send More Food Aid to Sudan
From Reuters
WASHINGTON —
The United States will send an extra 50,000 metric tons of food aid to Sudan to help feed that famine-hit nation, which is also coping with a major influx of hungry people from nearby nations, U.S. aid officials said Wednesday.
The United States had already pledged 82,000 metric tons of food aid during the current financial year starting last Oct. 1.
The new aid was approved after an appeal for emergency aid last week by the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.
