Franco-Saudi Talks for Sale of Jets Reported

PARIS —
France is negotiating the sale to Saudi Arabia of 46 Mirage 2000 jets worth $3.1 billion, Saudi diplomatic sources said Friday.
Negotiations for the contract, which is to include training of pilots and ground staff, have been taking place for 18 months and are due to be completed by April, the sources added. A number of the planes, in service since July 1983, are to be used by the Saudi air force. The remainder would go to other unidentified Arab nations, the sources said.
