900 Die of Cholera in Three Months
At least 900 people have died of cholera in two areas of Bangladesh in the last three months, a newspaper said here Friday.
The report in Banglar Bani said 700 people have died from the disease in Sunamganj district, about 200 miles northeast of here. The official toll is 500, it said.
In Jhenidah, 155 miles west of here, 200 people have died of the disease, the newspaper said.
The report could not immediatedly be confirmed.
The outbreak of the disease was attributed to lack of pure drinking water and proper medical care.
