Federal intelligence sources said slain Chinese-American journalist Henry Liu provided the FBI with occasional information, though he was not considered an official informant. The frequency of Liu’s contact with the FBI was not disclosed, nor was the nature of the information he may have provided. However, the sources added that they do not believe Liu’s contacts with the FBI were a motive for his murder last Oct. 15 at his Daly City home. Authorities believe the slaying may be linked to Liu’s outspoken criticism of the Taiwanese government.
